Cult classic Mexican horror film inspired by The Exorcist – with which it shares a sound designer – and directed by a favourite of Guillermo del Toro. It’s the story of two teenage orphans living in a convent who become possessed by a demonic force after opening a coffin in a local cemetery – now what did they expect? Controversial at the time for the depiction of murder, exorcism and orgies within a religious institution, this is another exotically gory offering from Mondo Macabro who brought us the bizarre Mystics in Bali at last year’s festival.
