Film Club: From Up On Poppy Hill

For 2014 Flatpack Film Festival’s family programme Colour Box teams up with the Library of Birmingham's Sunday Film Club to present a truly magical selection of films to be enjoyed by all. These screenings won’t be your average multiplex fare; expect live music, theatre performers, rare 16mm prints , and some of the best films from around the world, both past and present.

From Up On Poppy Hill (dir. Goro Miyazaki) Japan, 2011 – 92 min

Set in the 1960s, this coming-of-age tale is about two friends who fall for each other while their country rebuilds itself after WWII. The gorgeous hand-drawn Studio Ghibli animation makes it an irresistible watch.
