CAS'L
Hallucinatory claymation, and a portrait of the man who made it.
Visionary animator Bruce Bickford, best known for his collaborations with Frank Zappa during the 1970s, has been cooking up a new film in his Seattle basement studio for some years. An orgy of rampant clay mutation, you can see Cas’l in two forms at Flatpack; later tonight accompanied live by Moon Unit, and here with its newly-completed original soundtrack. To set the scene, Monster Road is a fascinating documentary about the forces driving Bickford’s work and his complex relationship with his father.
