Why Wonderland?

I am super excited to be involved in this project. I am 50 years old and live and work in Kings Heath. I was born and raised in Rochdale, Lancashire, left home at 19 to start my business in Ireland and then lived in East Anglia for 15 years. Moving to Birmingham in 2003, it has very much become home and it is where I have raised my children and immersed myself in my local community through teaching and mentoring.

I am hoping to learn and listen from other people and their stories (I am a social scientist at heart) in how film and cinema has shaped their lives. My parents went to the cinema regularly in the late sixties and I have heard many stories from my mother about those trips and the Pakistani (and Bollywood) films they watched. I am just as curious to see how the next generation of youngsters see themselves through film, especially with popular programmes like The Peaky Blinders.

What's your dream cinema?
